[aisle] 1st grade historical fiction

Hi All,
 I'm really stumped. Our first grade team is looking for books at a first
grade level for their historical fiction unit.  Every year we struggle to
find resources.  PebbleGo is one resource that helps, but they would like
print books.  I have the Ordinary People Change the World series, but they
need more.  Do you have any suggestions for a series of biographies or
other books that would fit their need?  They are now also hoping to add a
kid perspective....kids who have changed the world.  I'm quite stumped!
Very difficult finding anything that 1st graders can independently read on
this.  These are the people they would like:

   - Betsy Ross
   - Booker T. Washington
   - Clara Barton (we use Clara Barton as the teacher model and guided work)
   - Harriet Beecher Stowe
   - Harriet Tubman
   - John Muir
   - Neil Armstrong
   - Rachel Carson
   - Sally Ride
   - Sarah Winnemucca
   - Squanto
   - Susan B. Anthony
   - Thurgood Marshall
