[aisle] shelving ideas needed

We have an elementary PreK-1st school library in a very limited, open
space. I'd like to get some new shelving for the fiction books. These are
all smaller books (Junie B. Jones and Amber Brown, etc), and right now they
are on shelves so deep the kids can barely see the ones on the bottom
because they are tucked so far back. However, the shelves are also short
and freestanding, (so the small heads can be seen when they are bobbing
around behind them). So, I am looking for short shelves with 4 shelves
that are only 12 inches deep at the most, preferably more like 8 or 10.
This is such a small collection, but I want it to have better visibility.
Anyone have any ideas? I know I could use pool noodles or such behind
them, but they are ancient wooden shelves with many generations of paint,
and I just want something that looks much better and is more utilitarian.
