[aisle] Pool noodles for keeping books from sliding to the backs of shelves

Has anybody used the pool noodle trick for keeping books from sliding to the backs of shelves? I need a solution for keeping the books at the front of the shelves, and I'm thinking about trying the pool noodles, but I would love to hear some feedback before purchasing a ton of pool noodles!
