I would think of adding Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley for a Native American perspective.

So happy to hear your teachers are looking to expand and diversify the English curricula!!!

All American Boys is a great one. I’d like to add The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater, Kindred by Octavia Butler, Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds (pair with Macbeth), Pride by Ibi Zoboi (pair with R & J), Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, Monster by Walter Dean Myers, Dear Martin by Nic Stone, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, Warriors Don't Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals, Ghost Boys by Jewell Parker Rhodes, Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson (all pair with TKAM), The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan (pair with Catcher).

I also love #disrupttexts<https://disrupttexts.org/lets-get-to-work/> & project lit community<https://twitter.com/ProjectLITComm>.

Hello!

Our junior/senior level English teachers are looking to move away from the more traditionally taught books and incorporate newer and more diverse material. Right now they are not looking to replace specific titles, just to gather potential titles that might work as whole class texts for this age group. They could be fiction, non-fiction, graphics, etc. I know this is a broad ask, but I'd love any ideas or experiences you have!
