Oh, I hadn’t thought about Stamped. I wonder if these requests are going to every district in IL?

Anti racist Baby was the only title we had by Kendi. Reynolds was not in the request.

The other authors listed are below:

I received a FOIA request today that included the following question.

A list of all books written by authors Ibram X. Kendi (aka Henry Rogers) or Robin DiAngelo that are used in curriculum or libraries in your school district.

Unless I’m missing something, in addition to the articles, the FOIA requests any titles by Ibram Kendi. I’m wondering if this includes the Stamped middle grade and YA versions by Jason Reynolds?

Just chiming in here -- our school also received this FOIA. We took a quick look through our subscription databases and found that all of the articles listed are from two sources. One is a New York Times Online posting (August 14, 2019). The other is New York Times Magazine (August 18, 2019). Here are the page numbers: 6, 7, 14-22,, 24, 26, 28-38, 40, 42-93. We have access to them via our ProQuest Central database.

I'm posting this in the hope that I can save at least a few people from having to spend any more time than necessary on this request.

I was just notified by email that my district got this as well. Have to let my principal know by 9:00 am if we have any of these texts.

I didn’t get this (yet) but agree that it is frightening. I am beefing up my collection development policy in case these titles, or ones like them, are challenged.

Yes, our district received this as well and our librarians were asked to inform administration which of these books we had.
