Prior to starting the lesson, I'd define the difference between a
'challenged' or 'banned' book using a Google Slide.

Student groups were given GoogleForms to enter their individual responses.

Challenged/banned picture books OR books students are familiar with, were
arranged on tables.
Examples: The Lorax, Cat in the Hat, Roald Dahl's The Witches, James and
the Giant Peach, JK Rowling's Harry Potter, In the Night Kitchen, Tango
Makes Three, Nasreen's Secret School, etc.

Student groups were then asked to read the picture book OR talk about the
book on the table,
and asked to consider, "Why do you think these books were challenged or
banned?"

They'd then enter their responses into the Google Form.

At the end of the lesson, we'd discuss their analyses and then give ALA's
report on why this selection was challenged or banned.
