[aisle] Elimination of Full-Time Librarian In Our Two-School District

Hi Karrie,
I see that others have shared some great resources.
Here is a newer ALA Infographic that links to research that may be helpful:
https://www.ala.org/advocacy/sites/ala.org.advocacy/files/content/stateandlocal/School%20Librarians%20v2.pdf
The front has statements & the back lists the research support.

If you can get parent, student, and teacher voices at the board meeting --
that is always extremely helpful.
In my district, the elementary school librarians had been cut to sharing
buildings & when they advocated for moving back to one per building --
they had a few elementary students speak simply about the school librarian
(as well as parents & staff).
Here in Michigan, school board members tend to listen to parents &
community members. They were successful in their advocacy.

Also, you could possibly show some important projects or lessons that could
no longer be done with students if the position is cut.
I think the elementary librarians here also spoke to the need to develop
relationships with students to support reading achievement -- that cannot
really be done when one librarian is stretched thinly or traveling between
buildings.

Let me know if you have any questions or are looking for specific resources.
--Kathy
