[aisle] K-6 Library Visit Time

*Every school is unique.* Some schools have no formal library classes
because the Librarian and Library are flexibly scheduled so that teachers
can choose a time to visit the library for a specific lesson when it makes
sense for her curriculum.

Most schools at least schedule weekly book check-out times. Other libraries
have a formal weekly or bi-weekly schedule.

Right now I am scheduled both weekly AND also on rotations. 5th/6th
graders come to Library Class 3 days a week for 45 minutes for 3 weeks (9
lessons + checkout time built in). Then they rotate to STEAM Lab for 3
weeks, then to Art for 3 weeks. 45 minutes was chosen because that is the
length of their instructional blocks throughout the day.
My K-4th graders attend Library Class weekly for 30 minutes for formal
lessons. The class returns at a DIFFERENT time for book check-out
(although a few teachers have chosen a 30 minute lesson time and then
tagged their 15 min book check-out immediately after). My teachers do NOT
attend library class, but they ARE expected to stay and assist students
during book check-out. Those 30 minutes for lesson time are considered a
BONUS prep since those 30 minutes are not being counted in the "official"
amount of contracted prep time.

I've been in my current position for 15 years and never had the same
schedule twice!
