Hi all,
I am retiring from my Librarian position at Stevenson Middle School in Melrose Park, Illinois this year.  We have been a Horizons School to Watch two times.  Our library program is supported by building admin and teachers who buy-in to the library's central role as a resource for both physical and digital resources.  Weekly inclusion in team meetings allows for relationship building with all teachers who regularly share their curriculum so library lessons can align with the classroom as a preview, a piece of the lesson, or an additional element.

Reading teachers bring their students bi-weekly for instruction and book checkout.  Students are also allowed to come to the library as walk-ins with often 25 students exchanging books per day.

In addition, all teachers regularly request website recommendations, database instruction, and book carts preparation for class lessons and/or research purposes.  Every area of the building, from Encore (Art, Stem, Music, Drama, Journalism, Global Awareness) to Core subject areas, to PE and Admin use the library on a regular basis.

The library hosts a yearly Scholastic Book Fair, a Family Reading Night, an All School Read, a Book Club, and an After School Homework Club.  In addition, we participate in the District Reading Night and other Literacy events.
