[aisle] HS Library Student Assistants - activities/responsibilities

I'm in a slightly different position. I'm in a K-8 school. I have a group
of 8th graders that come in on their lunch period. They eat and then
(usually) help shelve books, check books in, stamp/sticker, staple or cut
materials out or deliver things to classrooms as needed. Three days a week
I am teaching another grade at that time, so I am subject to their
motivation on those days. In the past I have had as young as 5th grade
come in and help, but it really depends on my schedule because the younger
kids need more supervision. I also have 2 helpers after school. They
each come in for one day. They would normally be in after care but need a
break from the younger kids. They are in 4th and 6th grade. They also
help me check in books and shelve but they work with me one on one. It has
really worked out pretty well. Karen
