[aisle] Parent-Teacher Conferences

In our elementary schools, we're teachers, and follow the same contract.
Librarians are here the entire time, as are our art teachers, etc

It used to be that I was available to parents for readers advisory. They'd
conference with a teacher, who would suggest they come see me about their
child's reading level or goal. Typically, I sent them home with books.

Three or four years ago, we were looped into the PT conference schedule.
Parents can choose any teacher that works with their child for a
conference. Our conferences are 10 minutes long. It's a great way to spend
a bit of time with parents I wouldn't normally see. However, I really miss
the time to work with parents based on the teachers' goals. I could talk to
parents about reading and recommend books for much longer than 10 minutes!
When no parents were around, I worked at the circulation desk on
miscellaneous stuff.

Our parents now have the option of an in person or Zoom conference. It's
hectic switching from one to the other every ten minutes! A lot of parents
don't show up.
