[aisle] Shared audiobook?

also check in to Bookshare. Free for those with special needs. Educators too, who manage access for those with special needs. Audio is computer generated so not as "listener" friendly as live reader, but what I love is using with Voice Dream Reader to hear the audio and at the same time see the ebook with highlighting words as audio reads!

I see Overdrive has a cost per circ use of audiobook for Out of Left Field but it is $5 a check out.  Kind of pricey but better than $50 for one.

I have never found an audio book that allows multiple users. I experimented several times with headphone splitters using 4 copies in a class, but that never worked very well. The one thing you might want to check into is Learning Ally. It is an audiobook supplier and has most of the textbooks and books my kids needed. We had some sort of grant that allowed us to get it at a discounted rate as long as we had a certain amount of active users. It was amazing and we were able to sign up our kids with IEPs and 504s.

I have several students reading Out of Left Field by Ellen Klages for their 7th grade ELA class. A few of them have audiobooks as part of their IEP accommodations. Does anyone know if there is a way to get multiple users to hear the audio without buying multiple copies for $50 a piece? I'm thinking no...
