I think having a variety of seating is best. We have some soft seating, tall tables (with outlets), restaurant style bench tables, and regular tables and chairs. They all get used for different purposes.  We have a few of the soft chairs by themselves because sometimes students just want to be alone.  Our glass-walled breakout rooms (we have 3) are always in demand. Our tall bookshelves are attached to the outer walls, but all of our low (4 ft) shelves are on wheels and can be moved easily.
