[aisle] Quick question for suburban librarians

I've been trying to get library cards for our unincorporated students in
Glenview and Northbrook for years! There was finally a law passed in
Illinois that makes this possible. Glenview Public Library wants
documentation of our free/reduced lunch students, and then will provide a
library card for them. I'm having trouble getting our administration to
give this information to the library due to privacy concerns. I've asked
that they contact the families to get permission to give the library their
name, but that hasn't happened..

This should be a really easy thing -- every child under the age of 18
should automatically get a FREE library card -- no quedstions asked -- but
those in charge (federal, state, local, and district) have not made this
happen.

I would love to be a part of a coalition to address this issue!
