[aisle] High School Author Visit

[Monica Tolva]

I've just contracted to host author Samira Ahmed (*Love, Hate, and Other
Filters*; *Internment*; *Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know*; plus her May
2022 book *Hollow Fires*) in October 2022. We are so excited!

Ms. Ahmed lives in Chicago, and we especially love some of the Chicago
settings of her books, especially *Hollow Fires*. Her books deal with
equity, which is a strong focus in our district.
For a $4000 honorarium (plus cost of Lyft ride from Chicago!), she will do
3 large group presentations and a small Book Club lunch.
I have budgeted a good amount to give away copies of her books, and I am
planning to pitch to our English Department to take on her books as class
reads or lit circle choices for fall 2022.
