Galileo Scholastic Academy is a math and science focused K-8 magnet school
in Chicago's UIC/Little Italy neighborhood. We are seeking to hire a full
time STEAM Coordinator/ Makerspace Librarian to support 3 primary job
duties: 1) Collaborate with teachers to build making capacity to make and
tinker within the curriculum, 2) Manage the physical and virtual spaces of
Galileo’s library, 3) Provide math intervention support to students across
grades. This position will be a hybrid between a traditional teaching
position and a fully released role. In this role, the candidate will
collaborate with specific grade bands on maker projects at various points
throughout the year, while also providing math intervention support and
opportunities for book circulation across all grades.  The candidate will
also help to curate and maintain Galileo’s richly diverse collection of
books.

Galileo values innovative thinking and a solutions-oriented approach to
student learning and teacher collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a
strong background in math and science education and experience with the
tools commonly used in a Makerspace (e.g. robotics, 3D printing, materials
design, etc).  Experience leading Makerspace education and directing a
school library are plusses. The candidate must also hold an Illinois
teaching license (PEL).

This position will start in the fall of 2022 with paid
training/collaboration time over the summer.
