Good Morning --

These came to mind immediately. Some favorites...

Becoming by Michelle Obama
Octavian Nothing by Matthew Anderson
The March by EL Doctorow
Confederates in the Attic by Tony Horowitz

Good morning!

I had a teacher reach out regarding the next unit in her American Lit class. Students will be picking their own book to read and "the focus of this experience would be to read about someone, preferably an American, who is independent and strong-willed. It could be fiction or nonfiction, but the main character/hero should be someone whose confidence and independence sets them apart."

Does anyone have any suggestions that jump to mind?

Thanks in advance!!
