[aisle] book suggestion

May not be exactly what you are looking for, but here are some YA novels
that might scratch that itch:

   - *Four for the Road* by K.J. Reilly: Four grieving people head out on a
   roadtrip to potentially kill somebody (only 1 of the 4 people in the car
   knows murder is in the plans) and also has a romantic interest.
   - *After Dark with Roxie Clark* by Brooke Lauren Davis includes several
   unsolved crimes in Roxie's town and romance between the sleuth and
   potential villain
   - *Five Survive* by Holly Jackson: Spring break road trip becomes
   nightmare with kids trapped in an RV while shooters are circling their
   vehicle--brings up a series of crimes that led to this moment.
