<div dir="ltr">I'm in the process of pulling out biographies (ours have been shelved in with nonfiction) and integrating memoirs, so this was a spot-on question for me. <div>Here is where I"m confused: I'm looking at the <i>Abridged Dewey Decimal Classification 15</i> book for help with some Dewey questions, and 920 is biography, of course.</div><div><br></div><div>921 is "Philosophers and psychologists" (presumably "biographies of..."</div><div>922 is "Religious leaders , thinkers & workers"</div><div><br></div><div>Why are all my biographies classified as 921? And what would be the thought process behind putting memoirs at 922? (This is a genuine follow up question, not a criticism of your question, Amy! :) ). Am I missing or misunderstanding something in the Dewey guide? Ultimately I may just label them Biography & Memoir, but now I"m curious about this. a famous person or mainly about his/her life, I put it in biography; if it is mainly about a situation (ex. surviving abuse, medical condition, drug addiction, etc.), I lean toward putting it in the relevant Dewey section. I try to put it where it is most

<p class="MsoNormal">Internal debate happening in my head. I am thinking of putting all my memoirs in 922 (next to my biographies in 921 on a separate wall). My concern is that by not putting it into it's dewey subject number that I'll be missing kids who
want to read books about people's stories from that subject. For example, sports is big concern. It's the most known and used section, so they all know it's 700's. But if I take the sports memoirs out of the 700's and put it in 922, it's one more place
for them to look for a book they want. Middle schoolers may just give up and not bother looking at 922. <u></u><u></u></p>
