<p class="MsoNormal">I am wondering if anyone has ever had students enter the Appelley Publishing National Student Poetry Contest? Here is the
<a href="https://www.appelley.org/">website</a>. I got a flier about the contest in the mail and shared it with students, because it seemed legitimate, mostly because it said that it was through “Scholastic Publishing.” One of my students entered the contest
and got a letter saying that her poem had been accepted and would be published in a book that she can order if she sends in money. Obviously, I want to make sure the company is legitimate and not a scam before she sends in any money. I understand that their
sole purpose may be to make money by publishing students poems and that it might not really be a “contest.” I just want to make sure that she will get a copy of the book if she sends in money.
