<div dir="ltr">Rant warning.....I had a query similar to this recently. If you look on Lexile.com at that level, you will find things like Dante's Inferno, Paradise Lost (Both of which I did read...in college). Having a Lexile level that high is wonderful....what it means is that you can already read most anything you want to. Is the goal of reading to reach lexile 2000? Or is it to cultivate a love and enjoyment of reading and enrich your life? It is useful to have a Lexile measure in order to help you choose books that -- while you are learning to read -- can help you grow and challenge you without frustrating you. Once you have achieved a Lexile of 1400, you no longer have that issue, unless you are reading very technical or difficult material. If you can read at that level, you can read whatever you want....because you can! Just like with the F & P level issue, forget the level and allow kids to read for interest. A nonreader with a high Lexile may as well have a low Lexile for all the good it does them. Level of reading material doesn't matter...reading does.<div><br></div><div>Rant over.
