<div dir="ltr">We ran a contest for several years to redesign an ugly book cover in one of our freshman-level English classes. Students read the books and then earned grades for writing helpful summaries and author bios for the book jacket and designing a more eye-catching cover. This was before Canva (which would work really well), so one of the art teachers did a presentation on using different media and the graphic design teacher talked about the elements that each cover still needed (Title, author, barcode, etc.). We wrapped the books with Durafold and they were put on display in the LMC for a week for voting by patrons. <p class="MsoNormal">I am weeding some books at my school, and of course, have come across some great titles with boring and outdated covers. Has anyone done a project with students where they created new covers for old books that was successful? I am thinking
of having students re-create covers using an online program like Canva to make them look more professional. I would love any ideas or suggestions you have.
