<div dir="ltr">I kind of agree. I have my BA in elementary education and six years ago I went back and got my masters in library science (and did a 6 week student teaching in secondary ed) in order to be a library teacher in a small town district that needed a K-12 person. So two weeks ago I find out I'm being riffed from said district even though my evaluations have all been good and I can find no reason for it. My union has done great and fought for me but I was still cut with no reason given. Then I see this and now I wonder if I wasn't cut because I have been here 3 years and next year would be up for tenure and the district decided they could get someone cheaper. If they can hire someone with a bachelors and a K-12 library endorsement then it saves them money, even if that person is less trained to teach at a different level. Meanwhile I am looking for a new job and can't find a library teaching position in central IL.
