<div dir="ltr">Our middle school is grades 6-8, so I have no problems with including <i>Lily & Dunkin</i> in our collection. However, I run into a similar dilemma when I am considering a book that I think is more high school appropriate in our middle school collection. When that's an issue, I ask myself what is the age of the protagonist? If the protagonist's age is the same as the students in my building, then I believe it should be in our collection. If the protagonist is older than my students, then I feel that if I have concerns, the book can be part of the older collection. <div><br></div><div>I do allow students to interlibrary loan books from the high school library (this seems to be an issue with John Green books especially.)
