<div dir="ltr"> For our small school, grades 6-12, the only genres placed separately from the others are graphic novels and one we "created," termed "fun books" i.e. Guinness World Records, Ripley's Believe It or Not, Optical Illusions, etc. My reasons for sticking with the traditional library organization are:<div>1. many fictional works could be classed as more than one genre</div><div>2. I think it benefits students to see a variety of works and not just get stuck in a rut. </div><div>3. our library is small, so it's not brain busting to scan the entire collection (though HS-level works are on separate shelves from the general fiction).</div><div> For that matter, I don't even place the "mystery", "sports", etc. stickers on the spine after seeing (at other libraries) book spines with multiple stickers. It just looks messy and chaotic.</div><div> However, I'm happy to print for or e-mail to students a list of fictional works of any particular genre. And they can find works through Destiny that match their passion. </div><div> Best wishes determining what will work best for your library and your patrons.
