For the last two years, I have checked out library books to faculty and staff right before our winter break and included a copy of the attached poem and bookmark. We tie a red ribbon around the book, bookmark, and poem, and put them in mailboxes.</div>

I use new books and books from the state reading lists and try to match them up with different content areas or general interests. I also use popular adult fiction that we happen to have in our collection and some of my favorites like

Feel free to use (and improve) the poem. I write, "Enjoy and return after break!" on the bottom and sign my name as the first year someone thought we were giving them the book permanently.

<p class="x_MsoNormal">Has anyone tried a “you’ve been booked” program in a junior high or high school? I’ve seen posts about “you’ve been mugged” where teachers gift each other with a mug full of treats. I think we could ‘gift’ a book to a teacher or student
and include a bookmark and treats, but I’m not sure how to see if it would get read or if I should share non-library books. Any inventive suggestions?</p>
