Sadly, I'm afraid there will be quite a number of books I'll have to repurchase.<div dir="auto"> However we intend to inform students' parents before they return to school what books need to be returned. I'm also going to ask permission to include the cost of the book(s)' replacement with the students' registration fees for fall, assuming we don't return this spring. If kids return their books at the start of the school year, those fees would be waved.</div><div dir="auto"> I'm confident but not positive that this idea will be allowed, but even so - I assume a lot of good materials won't return.</div><div dir="auto">The books that DO return will be cleaned, but by fall any virus should be dead. I've heard that time is the best disinfectant for the books since it is difficult to wipe down each page. If you are collecting via a table, you'd have to bring the table inside and just let the books sit. </div>

We have not yet thought about check in but will need to at some point in the near future. I'd hate to just take the books as a loss but I'm not sure that can be ruled out yet. My reasoning being we don't want to bring potential virus germs back into the school.
That said, if we could collect them and let them sit in quarantine for a bit, we wouldn't have to lose them.</div>

<div dir="ltr">Hello, everyone. I was wondering what your plans are for collecting books that are checked out. I was thinking of asking our custodians to collect the ones in lockers when they are released to go back to work (they normally do locker cleanouts
at the end of the school year). I could then scan the books back in and run a report to see which books are still out (not to mention nearly 100 interlibrary loan books that are checked out). But how do we go about getting books returned from students who
have them at home? I wanted to see if anyone else had thought about this yet? Do we just put a return bin in front of the school and advertise it out to students? Do we do something different for seniors and other students who won't be returning next school
year? I know how expensive it would be to replace all of these books if they don't get returned and am just wondering what your thoughts are. I'd like to be able to pitch an idea to my principal soon and get started on collection.
