I am a k-4 Library Manager and am thinking also about how to support students reading through the summer and into the fall. I am trying to figure out how to put together a virtual book club where we read ebooks (that I access through the public library) live
together using our MSTeams system. Newsela is a really good web resource for non-fiction with high interest articles that you can dial up or down reading level. Would love to hear if others have thoughts about how to do more than just a "summer reading log"
and read WITH students over the summer!!</div>

<div dir="auto">It sounds like Michelle is a real tech person. We have a tech person who don't even do what she does. I feel like the teachers in my district are just trying to find their way and keep afloat. We will have to dialogue about what they want and
need if we continue this way in the fall. We have a few databases that can be accessed through our public library but we have no e books. All these free pandemic resources: ebooks, capstone, free magazines etc. will surely go away at the end of June. I don't
know how we will supply reading materials without the physical library and lack of $ to support buying ebooks and databases. We will see how things go. Lots of concerns!

Patti, that is what it is like in Mattoon. We teach 32 classes a week for 30 minutes each. Our district has hired teachers to do everything that Michelle is talking about. The state sees us as non-essential and we do not give grades so I am not sure what
that means for an elementary librarian. Even more so for the library para since there would not be near the circulation, if any, going on.<br>

<div dir="auto">I'm wondering how it looks for elementary schools. I am considered a special along with music, art & PE. I see the kids 30 min. Once a week (K-4) I also teach 2 JH elective literacy classes. Remote learning has been a challenge for me.
