My district is 1:1 but (pre-COVID) didn’t like ebooks because of the yearly subscription fees but they allowed me to purchase Capstone Interactive ebooks for my primary schools because of the “read to me” feature that highlights the word as it is read, unlimited multiuser access, and the fact that once it was purchased it was owned like a physical book. I only purchased titles that tied to specific projects or curricular areas. Generally, they get steady use during project time but are not checked out otherwise. This saves me from having to purchase “class sets” of books on specific topics. In some cases I also own the physical book and some of their books come as both physical and ebook for the $39.99 price. For example, our 1<sup>st</sup> graders do a planet study. I have PebbleGo and they can learn about various planets there and then I have a set of Capstone ebooks on the planets and this way even pre/emergent readers have 2 sources to get their facts from and if the entire class chooses the same planet that one ebook works for the whole class. Also, as previously mentioned they often have specials in the fall where you buy one and get one free if you order a certain amount. The capstone reps are very helpful. The ebooks are easy to access, go right into Destiny's circulation and are very user-friendly when kids are looking up books to read.
