<div dir="ltr">We still have a lot of books out in every building in our district. I sent out emails in the spring telling students to put them someplace safe, preferably their backpack, and return them when we are back to school. We are still 100% remote until the 26th, but I think a lot will come back as soon as we start up circulations again. I will be giving students until November 20th to turn them in. After that, the books will be marked lost and students will have to cough up either the book or the money.<div><br></div><div>There are a fair number, probably about 30 or so, that our graduating 8th graders never returned. I'm not counting on ever getting those books back. A lot of those were non-fiction because the 8th graders were working on research projects when we shut down. <p class="MsoNormal">What is everyone doing with lost and overdue books from last school year. I am in multiple buildings. My K-5 buildings each have about 200 books still outstanding. On one hand, I don't want to hold students and families accountable for
these books because it was such a crazy end to the school year and now it's been well over 6 months. On the other hand, There are a lot of nice hardcover popular books out there that I want back. I guess I'm looking for any ideas on how to get the books back.
I do not want to charge families for lost books. <u></u><u></u></p>
