[ISLMA-Share] Follett eBooks

We bought a handful of Kindle fires. This has been pretty much a disaster.
(Follett assured us that there would be an app). There is, but in order to
use the app you need to leave the Kindle pretty "open" in terms of what the
kids have access to. (Spoke to the tech support at Amazon--for a per
month/per head subscription fee we could dial down the access. I opted
against.)

Although our network at school is filtered, what kids can do with these off
site is pretty frightening.

My impression is they don't really use these devices for reading our
ebooks. They either read fan fiction (I got no problem with that) or watch
porn.

It isn't "readers" who check them out even. It's really low level kids who
like to be perceived as readers.

So far, my best success has been since the school opened a wifi network for
student's own devices. I have a few kids who will download onto their
phones. They usually need a one-on-one lesson to do this.

Most still prefer paper copy, however.
