[ISLMA-Share] Possible position change advice needed

[Email list for the Illinois School Library Media Association]

I am a district librarian for a 3 building district. Each library is
staffed with a full-time aide. While our circulations haven't decreased,
overall library use has. It's been nothing but a negative for me. Space in
our libraries is now slowly being taken over by other staff and being used
for overflow storage. Two of the three libraries are essentially "dead", as
there's no programming and no one to collaborate with. The only "life" is
when a class comes to check out or when a random class reserves it to use
the space.

The only positive (for the district) is that now they pay one person to do
the job of 3--and I can't possibly provide the quality of service a
building librarian would. It's disheartening! If there's any way you can
convince your superintendent that this is not a good idea, I would say do
it!
