Hello Everyone,

Our high school sociology teacher has asked me to gather children's picture books that depict various aspects of socialization. Here are the questions they will be asked to complete the project. Could you share with me some titles that come to mind? THANKS!!

__________________________________________________________________________

1. Write a short summary of the book.
2. What is the socializing message of the book? [Basically, what lesson is it meant to teach young kids?
4. How are males portrayed in this book?
5. How are females portrayed in this book?
6. Do males and females take on traditional sex/gender roles? Or are there more modern interpretations of how the different sexes act? Be specific and use examples from the book.
7. What values are promoted in this book? Do you agree with these or not?
8. What ethnic or racial groups are portrayed in this book? How? Is it a favorable portrayal or stereotypical?
9. Is there violence in the book? If so, explain.
10. How does the book portray the environment [plants and animals]? What messages about the environment would a child receive from the book? .
