[Email list for the Illinois School Library Media Association]

I experience this but it is due to how I have my mail filters configured.
In my gmail, I set up a filter to find any message that is sent to
islma at list.railslibraries.info and apply a ISLMA-Share label to it.  So
when I send a message to the list, I have a mail in my sent mail box that
gets labelled for ISLMA.  After a minute, the list receives my message and
then posts it to everyone as being from islma at list.railslibraries.info as
well as going *to* islma at list.railslibraries.info.

When the message I receive from the list hits my inbox (or technically
skips it due to how my filter is set up), gmail sees another message *to*
islma at list.railslibraries.info and also applies my ISLMA label to it.  If I
look at my ISLMA label, I see both messages one after the other.

Long story short, I'd bet you're seeing the outbound message you sent (with
your actual outgoing email address) as well as the copy of it that the list
sends out to members. So *you'll* see two copies, but *we* wont :)

Another similar possibility could be message threading / conversation
view.  Either of those could be pulling messages from your outbox and
lumping them with the responses from the list.  Try turning that off if it
isn't a filter problem.
