Hello library friends. I am reaching out to get an idea of your book buying
budgets. I just found out yesterday our ENTIRE library budget has been cut
due to the "dire financial condition" our district is currently
experiencing. Historically libraries in my district have been allotted
approximately $2.36 per student for purchasing new materials. This equates
to roughly $4500.00 for my students at the high school. This year I have $0
to spend! I know there are grants I can and will apply for along with other
fundraising ideas. I have always pursued these along with having a budget
to work with but this year that will be the only way to get new materials
in the hands of our students. I am planning to fight this decision but am
working diligently to get my ducks in a row first! Thanks for any help you
can give me to fight this fight!
