I did this last year.

Follett dropped off over a 100 boxes for me to pack books.

They were great.

I used one type of box per section - paper boxes for non-fiction; Scholastic-type boxes for fiction; crates for young adult (it's a small section). This was a life saver for stacking & quick identification later.
Label 1 of 52, 2 of 52 etc on two sides of each box. Top also if you have the time.
Good luck!

I did this last summer, and I labeled each box by section, like Fiction Box 1 of 48 so when I had "help" unpacking, it was easier to arrange the boxes in order. I also took pictures of everything before packing and I made a list of all the sections and boxes. I did one shelf per box in a row so we could literally just grab them out of the box and set them on the shelf. Good luck!

Ugh! I've done this myself six times over the years. I always packed one shelf per box and labeled it with the call number range contained in the box. It came in handy to make a list of all the boxes and their ranges so I could easily account for each one and have them placed near the shelves to which they were being moved. Made unpacking really easy.

Hi, all,

We are getting new flooring this summer and I'll have to pack up all the books to move the shelves. Any words of advice for those of you who have had to do this yourself? If you had a company do this, can you give me an idea of how much it cost?

Thanks in advance!
