[aisle] Fern Schumer Chapman e-visits

Hi all!

I just wanted to share a great remote author visit we had in the Spring and will have this year if we continue to be remote. Fern Schumer Chapman is the author of many books, including Is It Night or Day, which is the semi-biographical story of her Jewish mother who escaped from WWII Germany just before the war started. She has several non-fiction books about various components of WWII as well. Her book, Stumbling on History explores an art installation in Germany that worked to atone for some of the cruelties caused by the Nazis. This links well to the issues of reparation and statues currently being faced in the US. Fern Zoomed with our 8th graders last year and it was very meaningful. They were able to view her presentation and ask questions. She is open to working with large groups or individual classes.
