I have the same situation. We only collect for lost or damaged books. I work with the office to put the bill in their PowerSchool account or push coin. We say they can’t get yearbook until it’s paid. I do not see the money, however in Destiny we record the charge and there’s a report that I run. I use this report I’m my budget meeting in the summer and use it to adjust my budget for the following year. I also ask to replace the book and send parents the Amazon link I often tunes get the bee book, then I tell the office to remove the charge. Usually all I want is the book replaced and that’s easier with Amazon and a link.

Our bookstore can collect library fees for lost material, but if a student or parent pays the bookstore, I was told the money has to roll over into the general income fund and cannot be put into an account for the library to use to purchase new/replacement materials. So a student can lose a book and pay, but I never get money to buy a new copy of the book.
