[aisle] Self Checkout

We've done self-checkout for a number of years. I'm attaching photos of our
check-in and check-out stations. The check-in station is right as students
come in the door to the library. The computer is set to Circulation, Check
In and we teach the kids to scan their books in as they come in. They then
put them in the return slot. There is a reset code (I put it on an ID card
for the Library Lion) to scan before leaving the station, to preserve
student privacy.

When they've made their selections, they come to the check out station. The
computer there is set to Circulation, CheckThere you would have them use
whatever you use for accessing their Destiny account. Some schools use ID
cards, we use a 3-ring binder with a page for every class with all the
students' barcodes. They scan their name, their books, and Miss Lotta
Scales (the reset code).

All of our students use this method - sometimes if they are running late a
teacher will do the scanning, but all the students know how. Kindergarten
usually needs help until after winter break.
