[aisle] Teacher Request

That is exactly why I asked for feedback. 🙂 I don't normally interject
my opinion on book requests, as I assume that teachers have intention and
professional knowledge behind their plans. I do not wish to censor their
choices.

As much as we don't like to sensor, we also make professional judgements
about quality and content appropriateness based on the audience when
selecting materials- which is what this is. I use my professional judgement
to place books in buildings for a reason. I have valid reasons I would not
place this book in a fifth grade library. When I am asked to move a book to
a place I would not normally place it, I do get to share my professional,
educated opinion. Should the teacher choose to not take my advice and get
the book elsewhere, that is her right and I would not take any further
action/comment.

Turns out, previous posters were also correct...the teacher remembers
reading the book when younger (older teacher) and liking it. At this time,
it sounds like that is all he is going on for selecting it as a read aloud.
I will do my job in readers advisory and get more information and make
suggestions as needed to this teacher.

Thanks for the feedback and discussion!
Sara
