While you’re making your lists and checking them twice for the busiest time of the year, consider adding something for you! Apply for an AISLE grant or scholarship. The application window officially opens tomorrow, November 15, 2021 and will close February 1, 2022.



Application instructions and forms are available on the AISLE website (aisled.org<mailto:aisled.org> --- Grants). Direct links to each opportunity are linked below and attached with the eligibility requirements and application forms. Applications must be submitted electronically to grants at aisled.org<mailto:grants at aisled.org> by 11:59 pm on February 1st.

The AISLE Lauretta McCusker, O.P., D.L.S. Professional Development Grant<http://www.aisled.org/mccusker.htm> is designed to provide financial assistance to AISLE members who wish to participate in professional workshops, conferences and coursework related to the school library media profession each year. A total of $2,000 in McCusker Professional Development Grants will be awarded each year.



The Marilyn Kay Maynard AISLE Scholarship<https://www.aisled.org/maynard.htm> was created and awarded in 2012 to honor the 26 years that Kay Maynard held the position of Executive Secretary in AISLE. Kay was one of the original Founders of AISLE and served as the first AISLE President in 1988-89. In honor of Kay, 3 scholarships per year will be awarded up to $1,000 for students who wish to gain licensure to work in Illinois schools as a school librarian.


The Esther Baker AISLE Scholarship<http://www.aisled.org/baker.htm> was created in 2015 in memory of Esther Baker who passed away in 2014. Esther was one of the original Founders of AISLE and served as the Revisionist currently called Bylaws and Policy Function Representative since the beginning. In honor of Esther, one scholarship per year will be awarded up to $1,000 for tuition related to coursework leading to licensure each year, specifically as a high school librarian.
