[aisle] Are you READY to Step up and become an AISLE Leader?

Hi Paula and others,

AISLE is a completely volunteer organization.  There are no stipends.  We
have a financial secretary and an executive secretary that are paid
part-time employees, but that's it right now.

I can't speak to the PD position, but having served as the Readers'
Choice function rep for a couple years, I can tell you that the RC position
comes in waves of activity.  It's never very intense, but there are times
when you have information to gather and present (nominee lists, voting
results, contacting the award recipients and sending their awards out,
helping prepare/gather supporting documents for the shared resources
folder, etc.).

Every AISLE function rep is expected to create and share a board report
(there's a template) for each board meeting.  Actions taken on behalf of
the organizations must be approved by the Board first. Function reps are
requested to attend the Board meetings also (in the last couple of years,
most of the meetings have been virtual, so it's not hard to attend (and
they are generally held on Saturdays so fewer people miss work)).

It can be a fun and rewarding experience.  If you are interested, I would
encourage you to explore the idea further and maybe even sit in on a Board
meeting.
