[aisle] Question about contacting authors

Good afternoon,
One of the English teachers in my building (she teaches junior high) was
wondering about policies for contacting authors or poets, she sent me the
following questions, and said I could reach out to all of you.  Thanks for
any help you can provide!

One of my students has found that the poet he is researching has a web page
that says you can reach out to him by email.

Any experience with doing this that I should know or consider?
