[aisle] 1:1--Loaners from Library

We have assignment notebooks for every student and in the back of those are
pages that have passes for students (each pass is just a blank line that a
teacher signs if it is going to be used). If they need to go to a locker
or restroom or such during a class, they have to use one of their passes
(or they are late arriving to class), and they get 15 per quarter. They do
not use passes to go to the library or office. They have to use a pass to
get a loaner chromebook. Any unused passes can be turned in to any class
for extra credit points at the end of the quarter. If a student uses more
than 15 passes in a quarter, they are given a Saturday school, so they
don't do that very often!
We encourage them to set alarms on their phones in the evening to remind
them to plug in their chromebooks if they are frequently getting loaners.
We also offer two charging cords for any shared custody arrangements so the
kids are not trying to juggle the charger too!
Often at the end of the day we will make an announcement to bring all
loaner chromebooks back to the tech desk since some kids just truly forget
to return them and take them home. This always brings so many kids to
return loaners!
This has worked really well for us for several years.
